Anyone read the book? I am reading it right now and it's pretty good. Better than the Road thats for sure, that got droll and boring 5 pages in. Was real grim, this has some hope in it to lighten the mood. Damn Nathan Holn to hell!!

Better than the Road!? That's sacrilege! Nah, just kidding.

Is this your first time reading The Postman? I don't want to give anything away. I loved the setting, and the way society had fragmented into isolated towns. But there were parts at the end that that strayed away from straight post-apocalyptic and into more scifi that I didn't care for. You'll see what I mean when you get to that point.

I actually picked up the audiobook from the library recently so was planning on reading it again soon. Maybe the end won't bother me so much this time.

First time reading it yeah, The Road was just...annoying. I here the movie was better though.

I very much don't agree about the road. I thought I was a wonderful book (the movie was ok but not more than ok). The thing I love about the road is that it feels so realistic. the just walks and walks and starves and walk a litille bit more. I guess I liked it so much becuase I belive that life in a post-apocalyptic world probably would something rather like the road, actually. And I really love tha fact that you never got to now how the world actually falls. There will always be a bit of sparkling mystery about the story

I finished the postman, and I got to say it was one of the best books that I have ever read. I won't spoil it for anyone, but the ending was pretty damn good!!

I am reading The Postman, started it today. So far so good. I have heard the book is way better than the movie. I did The Road as an Audiobook. It was good that way. I might have had trouble reading it though. Does anyone know if The postman is available as an audiobook??

Fallout Alert: Attention, attention. There is radioactive fallout coming from the nuclear blast. You have less than 90 minutes to get indoors. I repeat, you have less than 90 minutes to get in doors. Use your basements. Put duck tape or leather tape to seal your homes. You have less than 90 minutes. There is a shelter at town hall and at the medical centre. There is radioactive fallout coming.

Yes, The Postman is available as an audiobook, at least on Cassette. I don't see it on CD or on Audible.

Since it's not available for purchase in a usable format, you might need to look for it in the usual, slightly less legal, channels.

And welcome to the forum, by the way.

Your gonna love the book. I will end up reading it again, it's influencing my writing as well. Though I am kinda using a lot of the styles that I have seen in other books.

Since I listen on my Ipod Cassette would be harder for me. You may be right about the way I need to acquire it. Need to find someone to trade with!! So far I am liking the book!! Although I am picturing Kevin Costner as I read,.

I tried to cleanse my mind of him while reading it. Worked for pretty well, I realized how much the movie differed from the book. Two COMPLETELY different ending's and stories.

I am trying to cleanse my mind being as I have heard about the differences between the movie and book, but I am still doing it. I really didn't mind the movie. But then I do love to see Post Apocalyptic stuff on the screen.

The Postman was one of the first PA books I ever read... I loved it. Disliked the movie because I liked the book so much and the movie falls flat. However now I like the movie too (we--I don't hate it)... its ok. The end loses a lot. Still think the book is one of the best PA I've read...
