Oh, and I'm re-reading War Day. It's a copy I picked up at the local VA hospital five years ago. Glad I found it again.

That's a great one. I re-"read" that recently via an old cassette tape audiobook. Definitely worthwhile.

I've read a couple of Zombie books, but I can only remember one?

FLU by Wayne Simmons

Quite well done Irish zombie tale set in Belfast. It had quite a good mix of realistic characters. It also did a good job of adding a bit of modern Irish history like former IRA and old school cops, and ex-military into the mix.

Rant: An Oral Biography by Chuck Palahniuk

This was my first foray into Palahniuk's work, aside from watching Choke and Fight Club. Overall I was very impressed. it was a mind blowing clusterf**k of oddness, set in a kind of hick, dystopian, modern sci-fi setting. With some demolition derby action and a dash of rabies infested zombies.

I'm now reading Night of Power by Spider Robinson, which is just great! The year is 1999 and the US is at war in Africa. NYC is a cesspool beyond belief and a Black revolution is about to erupt.

This is of significant interest to me seeing I am going to NYC (from Australia) in less than a month. Now I know NYC is far from being anything like the book describes now, but I still find the old Deuce era to be extremely interesting.

If you want something new and solid, give MUTANT HUNTER: THE SLICKS a shot. This is the second book in a new post-apocalyptic series. No zombies or vampires, just survival and hunting mutants for bounty. The first book, LEGENDS OF THE FALLOUT apparently came out last year. It is good and starts the story, which involves a chase across the wasted land, a woman, and a truckload of action, violence and dark humor. If you remember the old OUTRIDER series, MUTANT HUNTER is somewhat like it, but more sophisticated, better-written, and has a healthy dose of sci fi thrown into the mix. Try it, you'll like it. It's on Amazon.

I just finished The Judas Syndrome after taking a breather from extinction point. Now I'm on extinction point till I get back to reading Rebirth. I'm gonna do a review on TJS hopefully tomorrow.

Rebirth is free on the Kindle for a few days. People should grab it while they can get it on the cheap.

I just finished Soft Apocalypse. The setting makes the Great Depression look like a case of the sniffles.

I ordered Death of Grass, but it hasn't arrived yet.

My wife is completely absorbed by the Game of Thrones series. She's reading the last book, and told me she hopes the author doesn't die before writing her another fix of fantasy.
