Currently at the very initial stages of putting together some ideas for a website that I am thinking of setting up to promote an E-book publishing project I am working on.
What I need is either a drawing or photograph that depicts/shows a PA themed London.
My initial thoughts are of say a London bus over-turned or a damaged London land mark or similar but I am open to all suggestions. One idea I had was of a very much abandoned 'London Eye' (its a great big viewing wheel on the Thames) but I am open to all suggestions.
The publishing project has a pandemic theme so its not really overt destruction I am after but rather just a sense of abandonment and neglect. Think of those photographs from Chernobyl of the abandoned fun fair and stuff (I had considered using one of them but want to have no issues with copy-right and so on).
As this is going to be a commercial project I am happy to pay a small fee because I need to be able to have full copy-right and so on along with full attribution to who ever comes up with the right thing.
Thanks.

I think it could be worth viewing "The Day Of The Triffids" and maybe even "Reign Of Fire" but definitely "28 Days Later" for some inspiration for abandoned London images.

Veering towards something from an abandoned fairground now because what I want to convey is a sense that the 'ride' is over, at least for now.

If your going for abandoned amusement parks then look up Pripyat, you should find some that way.

Some seriously cool pictures in this thread.
The Millenium Dome or Houses Of Parliament are pretty famous, and everyone wants to see the houses of parliament crumble...

Well sure who doesn't? Can we throw in some other famous goverment landmarks while we're at it? Say Nelson's column broken in half. To me that would be a disturbing image and I'm not even British.

The best London PA images come from the film 'Flood'. Now the film itself is a stinker and almost, but not quite, falls into the category of being so bad that its actually good.
But the part when London floods is excellent, really good stuff.
Otherwise, its just the opening scenes from '28 Days' or the recent BBC version of 'Day of the Triffids'. Both have their moments but its difficult to convey what a city the size of London might actually look like.
One image that I would like to see is that of an imagined 'London Eye' some years after London is abandoned. Maybe have a few of the pods smashed up, weeds growing around the structure and so on.

This has some nice London shots, I especially like the BT tower sticking out of the dirt kind of like the Statue of Liberty in PotA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oD9LESWqEI
If you need copyright though you will need to either commision it/ see what is available from stick sites or get a student to do something. Places like http://www.conceptart.org/will be good to check out- there are people who can do some really great photo real stuff. It may be worth seeing if someone has already done something suitable and might be willing to let you use it in exchange for credit and some money should the project ever make a profit.
If you want a photograph and want something iconic something like a red post box or telephone box in a run down area/ abandoned town might be good.

All good stuff.
And something like a red telephone box might just work, maybe with the reciever hanging down on something along those lines (although there aint many left anyway).
I think one of the reasons I became a post-apoc fan was due to spending time in the London docks during the 70's and early 80's when they were all run down and abandoned and really conveyed that sense of something that had once been big and mighty just reduced to waste land.
But London aint got anything really like that left now. It all just to dam shiny and new and pleasant looking

Yeah it is a shame a lot of the red phone boxes have gone, and the ones that are left tend to be in pretty villages rather than run down places. Not sure how dedicated/ rich you are but you can buy the old red phoneboxes from junkyard type shops but I think they are around £1000. I would LOVE to have one hidden away in the bushes of a garden though. When I win the lottery...

You should have a look over the following sites. Both done by the same person and one is about old rivers of London so not as full of derelict and run-down sites but there's still some very good (and evocative) pictures.
