 SARVIP vest
« Thread Started on Mar 5, 2012, 12:13pm »

I recently bought a used SARVIP vest off ebay - what was interesting is it came from a former Blackhawk pilot who sent it with all the gear he carried. What I found especially interesting was how he lanyarded items he didn't want to lose to the individual pocket flaps. The clasps for the leg loops are heavy, so I took them off, but this vest could be used to rappel with. It is a combination of Coyote Brown and OD, and is my new 'Get out of Phoenix' carry piece. I need a longer sternum strap on my M1941 pack, but the two work well together, and you can drive with it on easily.

What I like about it is it looks more like a fishing vest than a tactical vest, and the pockets are big. I figure you could live out of it for several days if need be. attached is a stock photo from a site I found by googling it - not my vest, sorry need to buy a camera. Anyway, if anyone is looking for a good survival vest, that doesn't look 'tacticool' but will do the job, I suggest this one. Well made and capable of carrying a lot for what it is.

Nice find!

I used to see quite a few at a surplus store near my school. I suspect they were Gulf War leftovers. They sold for about fifty apiece and though I never really wanted one, I figure they would always make a good survival/fishing/game vest for anyone looking for something durable and cheap. I've never been to big on vests, however. Still on the lookout for a good chest rig.

No offense King, but 'tactical airsoft' is a contradiction in terms. I have some stuff I'm getting together for you - just haven't had time to get it all in one place and get it out to you. I promise you'll have it before the world ends in December. ;)

Yes I know, but it's all I have for now. Thats great, also I am planning on moving to Arizona as soon as I can. I have a friend that may come as well, is there work to be had there? I enjoyed Sedona but I don't know about what the population numbers around there are and I want to be able to buy some land that isn't far from where ever I chose to live. Still working things out and looking at what I wrote, it shows. D:

It looks like a nice vest, I may have to see if my (somewhat) local surplus store has one lying around I could try on. Gotta love those vests!
